We were asked by furniture designer and woodworker George Brin to create the first iteration of his website featuring his collections of custom modern furniture designs that were created for his clients. He wanted a simple modern aesthetic to be the backdrop of beautifully photographed images of his designs.

We were asked to develop the brand concept and identity in collaboration with Steve Davis, an admin educator in the DEIB education space for private and public schools. The Institute for Human Relations is a 503b Non-Profit based in Delaware. The goal of his organization is to educate school administrators and educators on navigating diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging within the broader education environment.

We developed the brand mark for the organization as well as print stationary, the website, online branded email advertising and social media campaigns for events.

We created a webinar platform that allows for payments for events and sets a passkey for zoom webinars through the events booking system on IHRinc’s website. There is also a comprehensive donations system that allows for payment and confirmation to IHRinc’s constituents.

Netty Awards Winner for Social Impact Category

Today, we received news that we had won a prestigious Netty Award for the Know Your Hairitage Book Campaign and Website in collaboration with author Zenda Walker.

The Campaign started as a self-published book that we designed together with Zenda and a website branded as Know Your Hairitage focusing on social awareness of traditional beauty standards on People of Color and Indigenous Native People

As a self-published book it had garnered three book awards like the Writer’s Digest Award for self published children’s book. With the promotion and website presence it found support by the Horvath Group and their Red Robin Children’s Book Publishing Company. Zara’s Wash Day, the original book in the series, will be republished and coming out to bookstores internationally in June. A subsequent book, Zion’s Crown, will be distributed and publshed in September 2024

Know Your Hairitage Series: Zara’s Wash Day

Zenda Walker reached out to me through the Reedsy platform in 2021 to collaborate on her delightful children’s book, “Zara’s Wash Day”. As an accomplished beauty stylist, Zenda had a vision to showcase the rich diversity of African hairstyles and their impact on contemporary beauty trends. With the talented Nigerian artist, Princess Karibo, bringing the story to life through captivating illustrations, we embarked on a journey to create not just a book, but a beloved series called ‘Know Your Hairitage’.

Alongside the book, we crafted a unique brand identity and even designed a user-friendly ecommerce website. Zenda’s self-published book garnered recognition and accolades, catching the attention of the Hatchett Group publishing company, who eagerly joined forces to republish the book and continue the educational series with a second installment. Together, we celebrated the power of representation and the beauty of diversity.

We created designed a VIP Box to send to celebrities to advertise Zara’s Wash Day with the Hardcover version, a coloring book, tote bag, and a bookmarks designed to accompany the Know Your Hairtage Brand.

Archambault Insurance, a trusted family-owned insurance company based in Putnam, CT, has been serving the local community since 1928. With their unwavering commitment to transparency and outstanding customer service, they have earned a solid reputation and a loyal customer base. I had the privilege to work on creating captivating print ads for local and regional newspapers and magazines, as well as engaging radio spots for the local radio stations driving their advertising campaign which lasted for several years.

The copy and engaging radio scripts, were expertly refined by the skilled copywriter and author Melissa Wyse. The radio ads were made with the help of clients and employees speaking their own words from the scripts we edited adding to the authenticity of their relationship with Archambault Insurance.

Each ad concept was sized to match the column widths of the media outlets that the business advertised in. The ads were in color nd black & white.

Alé Olive Oil

We were asked by Demetra and Themis Boretos, whose family owns olive groves in Sparta Greece, to create the brand mark, name, and labels for their unadulterated imported olive oil. The logo is in the shape of an amphora which are ancient greek vessels that hold olive oil. The name Alé means oil in Spartan. We worked with designers in greece where the products were bottled.

THE ART OF LULA BLOCTON : BOOK DESIGN

 

We are near to the completion of a 3 year project with African American artist, LULA BLOCTON. She was part of a women’s artist movement in New York in the 60’s. This collection of a culmination of her life’s work has produced a 240 page book documenting her art up to now. The forward text essay was written by New York art curator and writer, Barbara Stehle. Each image was meticulously color corrected and adjusted before placing into the book. The book was finally edited by Jonathan Miller who is a freelance writer and an editor for Random House. The book will be published by Lula’s painting mentor, Samia Halaby and her sister Nahida, who run Palestine Books publishing company. The book will be printed by Ingram Spark.
